Google Cloud Speech API: Node.js Client

release level CircleCI AppVeyor codecov

Node.js idiomatic client for Speech API.

The Cloud Speech API enables easy integration of Google speech recognition technologies into developer applications. Send audio and receive a text transcription from the Cloud Speech API service.

Read more about the client libraries for Cloud APIs, including the older Google APIs Client Libraries, in Client Libraries Explained.

Using the client library
mports the Google Cloud client library
t speech = require('@google-cloud/speech');
t fs = require('fs');

reates a client
t client = new speech.SpeechClient();

he name of the audio file to transcribe
t fileName = './resources/audio.raw';

eads a local audio file and converts it to base64
t file = fs.readFileSync(fileName);
t audioBytes = file.toString('base64');

he audio file's encoding, sample rate in hertz, and BCP-47 language code
t audio = {
ntent: audioBytes,

t config = {

Samples

Samples are in the samples/ directory. The samples' README.md has instructions for running the samples.

| Sample | Source Code | Try it | | ————————— | ——————————— | —— | | Speech Recognition | source code | Open in Cloud Shell | | Speech Recognition v1p1beta1 | source code | Open in Cloud Shell |

The Speech API Node.js Client API Reference documentation also contains samples.

Versioning

This library follows Semantic Versioning.

This library is considered to be General Availability (GA). This means it is stable; the code surface will not change in backwards-incompatible ways unless absolutely necessary (e.g. because of critical security issues) or with an extensive deprecation period. Issues and requests against GA libraries are addressed with the highest priority.
