VM stats

The VM has 4 GB ram which leads to a heap size of 2 GB (unclear where this is defined).

1. 2015-07-30: OIT adjusted threading in the config file to improve query performance.
2. 2015-09-22: Increased RAM to 8g and allocated 4g to JVM Heap (see /etc/sysconfig/elasticsearch for setting)

Monitoring commands

 -s 'localhost:9200/_nodes?pretty'

Allows you to get full stats on all nodes in the cluster. You can also use this to look at the JVM parameters for the cluster. See also Node Stats and Monitoring Individual Nodes
