Presence

Presence shows you the availabilities of your set up team by analyzing their Google Calendar entries.

Features include:

Set up teams
Show availabilities of team
Show details of single person in team
Search and display availabilities for individual persons
Show projects people working on and calculates man days

Installation

Vagrant box provisioning is handled by Drifter.

run git submodules update --init to get Drifter as a submodule
bring the box up and provision it: vagrant up
copy config/settings.yaml.sample file to config/settings.yaml
access the local website at http://presence.com/

Google project

Presence uses the Google calendar API, so you will need to make a Google APIs project to use it.

create a project at Google: https://console.developers.google.com/project
under Credentials, configure the “OAuth Consent Screen” to manage your organization/server
under APIs make sure the Calendar API is ON

OAuth2

User access to the website is managed through OAuth2.

under Credentials generate a Client ID for “Web Application”
add the client ID and client secret to settings.yaml as key and secret

Service Account

To fetch the calendar information a service account is used.

under Credentials generate a Client ID for “Service account”
make sure to enable G Suite Domain-wide Delegation
copy the service account email address to settings.yaml
copy the .p12 to the server
set the path to the .p12 key in settings.yaml
copy the Client ID of the Service Account and add it on the Google Admin Console (https://admin.google.com/AdminHome?chromeless=1#OGX:ManageOauthClients). NB: to do this you must be G-Suite admin, or ask one to do it for you.
as scope for the authorization, use https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.readonly

Deployment

login to presence.liip.ch server via liip-ssh tool
go to /var/www/presence.liip.ch/src
git pull
